Research Overview

We are interested in development of chemical tools that can be used to understand complex cellular processes. To do this, we are working on:

  • Construction and applications of carbohydrate microarrays for rapid analysis of glycan-mediated recognition events

  • Preparation of homogeneous glycoproteins

  • Development of fluorescent probes that can be used to detect biologically important ions, species and enzymes in cells

  • Development of drug delivery systems that target cancer cells selectively

  • Incorporation of unnatural amino acids into proteins in mammalian cells for elucidating cellular events

  • Development of biofunctional molecules that regulate biological processes

To achieve this goal, my research group consists of organic and biological researchers who collaborate with each other closely to promote a successful outcome.
